What I’ve Been Watching, Reading and Listening To Lately

Honestly though, I’m a happily married 36 year old mum and this series gave me all the feels. Although I did have to google the main character’s age, 28 – phew – not that bad! Is it bad that I find a 28 actor hot?!

I didn’t think an ice-hockey romance would draw me in, but I’m glad it did. I was hooked! And on another note…Those college students are a right old horny bunch aren’t they!

If you’ve seen it, we NEED to discuss ASAP.

TSITP (The Summer I turned Pretty). I just love love love this. I love Conrad Fisher. His eyes, wow-wee. B-e-a-utiful!

TSITP is a complicated but cute love story where they grew up together as family friends, but ‘Belly’ had a huge crush on Conrad since she was little, and things get messy between him, his brother and Belly, but there are some very sweet moments in the series. 

I think this series gave me all the feels like Off Campus did. I love LOVE. I get obsessed with these fictional characters though. Why can’t all men be like them? Sorry Joe, you’re a good egg (in case he reads this) haha.

Beef on Netflix. I’m only three episodes in, but this is soooo good. Ali Wong is one of the main characters and she is amazing! 

Last One Laughing. So, Joe and I have watched both seasons of Last One Laughing. Oh my gosh, I don’t think I’ve belly laughed so hard in ages! Bob Mortimer gets me every damn time!

One day. Ah, I’ve watched this series two or three times now. It’s so beautiful. Beautiful but also sad. Another romantic story that is a 10/10.

Drive to Survive. I binge watched this when the latest series came out. I love F1, although I don’t follow it religiously now that I’m a mum. It’s an entertaining watch though. Who knew there was so much drama on the tracks.

My Oxford Year. Another wonderful rom-com. Made me cry once or twice. Beautifully filmed too.

One Tree Hill. Well this brings back memories! I started re-watching this recently. Although, I still have Gilmore Girls season 8 to blooming finish. IYKYK. I just want to watch all the great TV shows we had back in the day, such as The OC, Peep Show, The Vampire Diaries, The Office and so on.

Project Hail Mary. I haven’t read the book, but it’s one of Joe’s favorites of all time. The film was incredible. I haven’t cried so much watching a film, and I didn’t think I would cry at an alien-rock-thing but I did! Ryan Gosling was fab in it too.

No Hard Feelings. Oh my, I cry-laughed so much watching this with Joe. Jennifer Lawrence is incredible in this film.

The Drama. I went to the cinema with two of my lady friends and this was a weird but wonderful watch. I left the cinema a bit confused to whether I enjoyed it or not. It was dramatic for sure, but a little weird. 

Reading:

Since having Alessia, it’s been so hard to sit still and read an actual physical book. I STILL haven’t bloody finished my Science of Nutrition book and I think I started reading that in 2024 or 2025 lol. Another one of the books that I have been chipping away at since 2025 is…

Extremely Online. It’s an interesting read about the digital world, social media and influencers. I’m only half way through and it’s been quite enjoyable.

Careless People, A story of where I used to work. This was rather interesting from a Meta employee’s perspective. I was quite shocked by some of it, but then again toxic work environments are everywhere.

Verity. I wanted to read this before the film adaption comes out later this year. I listened to it on audible in a day or two. It had me gripped! Very disturbing in some parts though. It’s a thriller, but a little romantic too. And, I can’t wait to see Josh Hartnett in it.

Into the wild. I watched the film version of this on Netflix ages ago and wanted to give the book a listen on Audible. Incredible story.

Midnight Sun. I have been listening to Edward’s version of events (Twilight) for what seems like an eternity. I think it’s hard to listen to as I have seen Twilight so many times and I know the story so so well, however, I do want to hear Edward’s side. So I will continue listening. 

Listening:

My music is so varied these days. But some of the bands and musicians I have been loving are Olivia Dean, Tame Impala, Harry Styles, Sombr, Sleep Token, Hayley Williams, Lucy Dacus, boygenuis, Bad Omens, Loyle Carner, Justin Bieber, Phoebe Bridgers, Elton John, Queen and Lily Allen.

I’m struggling to find really good rock bands at the moment, I keep listening to my same old stuff, apart from Sleep Token, who I’ve been listening to over the past two years. 

I miss the olden days where I used to go to gigs and listen to all the great Hertfordshire bands, but also admiring Alexisonfire, Foo Fighters and all other goodun’s as well.

On another note, some Podcasts I have been enjoying listening to are the Zoe podcast about science, nutrition and health. And Complex which is all about mental health.

Things I’m excited for: 

Dune Part Three. Reading the whole Dune series. Finishing The Science of Nutrition book. Verity Film. The next Spiderman film. Devil Wears Prada 2. And, some romantsy smut.
