The Best SPFs For Your Face

I wrote a post on the importance of SPFs and the best ones back in 2021 , which was written blooming yonks ago… So, I thought I would write an updated piece as wearing SPF is one of my crucial steps in my skincare routine.

A reason why most millennials probably age better is because of their skincare routines! I’m approaching my 40’s and I have rather great skin if I say so myself, minus the wrinkles under my eyes as I don’t use eye-cream and I know I should, ha. Anyway, I don’t do botox, fillers or sun-beds. I want to age gracefully and I have been big on my skincare since my early twenties and while working for an anti-aging company for a few years.

I’ve used SPF every single day for years and years and I think it’s one of the beauty industry’s hidden secrets (or not so hidden) of keeping our skin looking young and beautiful.

Since becoming a mum, my skincare routine has slipped to the bottom of the list. However, I do still reach for an SPF before I leave the house. Well I try to most days!

Also on another note please ignore the state of my hair, I’m trying to strip the colour from my hair as I’m going for a big change in the new year.

Why wearing SPF every day is so important…

Your skin can be harmed by constant sun exposure and UV rays, whether or not you see a burn. Sunburn is an immediate reaction, but damage from the sun occurs over a life-time.
Sunscreen helps to prevent brown spots and skin discolourations and it slows down the development of wrinkled, premature ageing skin. It also helps to reduce the appearance of facial red veins and blotchiness. So it’s highly important to apply sunscreen every single day, rain or shine!

So without further ado, here are the BEST ones.

I’ve got a few on my list that I keep on re-purchasing. They are all slightly different but I do truly love them all. I tend to favour the La-Roche-Posay one most days! However they are all great in slightly different ways.

If you’re looking for a higher end light-weight SPF, look no further than heaven’s Prism Protection SPF. I was very kindly gifted this one a few months ago, however, I would actually re-purchase.
It has a lovely formula that has no stickiness on the skin what-so-ever and it’s super light-weight. It sits really well under make-up but I actually prefer to wear it without foundation as it smooths out my skin tone and looks some-what even.
Apparently the Royal family love this brand’s skincare too! Priced at around £82.

As I mentioned above, the one I tend to reach for the most is the La-Roche-Posay one. I really like the formula, it’s not overly greasy, doesn’t have that chemical smell and sit’s beautifully under make-up. It’s also great for sensitive skin types and really affordable too. Also, it lasts blooming ages considering I use it a hell of a lot! Priced at around £13-20, you can usually order it from Amazon at the cheapest price.

Bondi Sands Fragrance Free Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50+ is another golden oldie that I’ve been using on and off for years and years. It’s so so cheap (£9) and does the job really well. I stopped using it during my pregnancy as it was a ‘chemical suncreen’, which wasn’t pregnancy safe but I’ve been reaching for it again postpartum. The bottle is humungous and lasts forever!

ULTRA VIOLETTE Supreme Screen SPF 50+ Hydrating SKINSCREEN is a new one in my rotation this year. To be honest I was sold on the lovely packaging. But it’s a lovely SPF. It does smell like a typical SPF – that slightly musky scent which I dislike. However, I can put up with it as it’s great under make-up.

The last one I would recommend is the Supergloop Glow Screen, it has a tint of colour in this SPF. But it’s lovely and glowy. I’ve re-purchased this a few times!

There are a few other SPFs that I would recommend but these are my favourites and are the best of the bunch I’ve found so far as we head into 2026.

Skin-care products are continually developing and getting better and better, so there are always new brands and products to try as the years go on. Who knows, maybe my SPF rotation will change in another three years or so! That being said, all five of these are fab, so depending on your budget, any of these will do the job of protecting your skin what-ever the weather.

I’m not usually one to comment on blogs, but this is a great informative post and I’ve been reading your blog for a while now.

I love wearing SPF every day too!! I haven’t tried the heaven one or Bondi sands one but I’ve tried the others. I really love the La Roche-Posay SPF too.

I’ve been trying to find an SPF that will suit my skin, and I’ve been very tempted to try out La Roche-Posay from so many good reviews! I am currently using one by Simple, which I think/hope my skin likes x

I only ever wear Ultraceuticals or La Roche Posay these days because so many others I’ve tried just break me out! x
