Little Moments For The First Few Months Of This Year

It’s been raining near enough every day this week here in the UK. Which I think always reflects my mood.

The rain has a calming effect on me, and I feel I write best when I’m sitting in my living room, staring out the window watching the sky pour down and cleanse the world. Am I the only one who feels that way?

Any who, honestly, the first few months of this year have been all-guns-blazing, a little strange and unexpected but I’m somewhat powering through.

Life can be really unpredictable and unplanned. We never know what’s going to happen tomorrow, unless you’re the type of person to have a well-thought-out scheduled diary, but even then plans can change and you need to adapt.

And if you know me in real life, I am one of those well-thought-out scheduled diary people. And sometimes it can be really overwhelming so, I like to strip back everything.

If you follow me on the gram, you will know my life has been a bit intense, with flying here, there and everywhere, and spending countless days dedicating my life to our DEIVF path. Also trying to balance my mental health and reducing medication to eventually come off, losing weight through intense exercise and healthy eating, as well as managing at least 10,000 steps a day. Keeping the house somewhat immaculate and seeing friends and family as much as I can too.

Sadly, I had to give up a few things which I’m still gutted about, but as time goes on, I think they were the right decision. I have to prioritise what truly matters to me, and that is my well-being, being a good wife and furmum, and eventually a good mother.

I’m slowly getting back to some-what normality which is good.

However, I’m still deciding what to do with my career, but it’s taking a back-seat for now.

I may go freelance or back to contract work in a few months time or it may take a year or so. But I need to form a business plan for my speciality services before I come to any decisions.

I guess I’m figuring out whether it’s best to focus on a niche area that I’m really good at or be board with my skills as I’ve done a bloody lot over the past ten years.
You could define me as an all-round Digital Marketing and Social Media Specialist who has worked at global retail brands like Mothercare, Cath Kidston (probably my two favourite companies I’ve worked at) as well as small agencies working with small local businesses and big automotive clients like Citroen. And of course working in Marketing in the beauty industry many moons ago.

I’m sure I’ll figure this all out at a later date, but it’s good to type it out while I’m thinking about it. But I’m really proud of what I’ve accomplished these ten years or so.

With all this going on, of course we decided to add even more to our radar and get our upstairs bathroom renovated. The job starts tomorrow. I will of course share before and after’s on my blog and Instagram in a few weeks time if you’re interested in seeing my interior design ‘vision’ lol.

Anyway, I went off on a bit of a tangent there. This is supposed to about romanticising the little moments from the past few months, but it’s more of a ‘life lately – I’m figuring out life’ piece.

So, I best crack on…

It’s the little things in life right?

  • An epic Icelandic adventure back in January
  • Family hols to Bulgaria in early March
  • A flying visit to Madrid for personal reasons
  • Valentine’s flowers from my love
  • Mother’s day afternoon tea celebrations
  • Cat Burns soundtrack on repeat
  • Birdy’s song ‘Keeping your head up’ getting me through life
  • Loosing just over a stone
  • Working with some amazing brands (still testing products, upcoming posts soon…)
  • Falling back in love with skincare
  • Cuddles with Archie
  • Long strolls
  • London exploring with Nicol
  • Feeling like myself again, well some days
  • The enormous amount of support from friends, family and readers of my blog keeps me going
  • Becoming matcha obsessed
  • The moody down-pour weather

How have you been? What little things make you happy?

I am glad to hear you are getting back to your normal self most days, you have had it hard. I totally agree about the rain, living in Australia we can go months without seeing rain, or even clouds! I love the rain, it does have a calming effect on me too, my daughter is the same. Good for you for losing weight, that is a hard thing to do. Good luck with your DEIVF journey xx

I’ve been up and down, the past 2 days have been down/not-so-good days, but yeah it’s been really tough.

It’s hard when people expect you to just get on with things/life. Ah, I didn’t know it was like that in Australia. Thanks lovely. Hope you’re good. xx
