On Sunday, my mum and I dined at Madhu’s at The Grove in Watford for Mother’s Day. Which was a lovely experience and of course I had to document the occasion.
From the greeter at the main door who was full of character, to the super friendly waiter and waitress, the amazing mocktails, delicious vegetarian options (they had vegan, but decided to go veggie) and beautiful views to the gardens. What’s not to love?
If you haven’t heard of The Grove, it’s a fancy hotel located in my home-town, Watford. I’ve been once or twice before for my husband’s work Christmas parties, but never been to one of the restaurants, until now.
Madhu’s is a pop-up restaurant, but they also have the glasshouse and The Stables for food too.
To start, they brought out a selection of flavoured crackers and dips, followed by Paneer Tikka and Mosala chips. The chips were a tad spicy for our liking, but the paneer was cooked to perfection. The presentation was wonderful too.
We also had some cocktails, mine was very creamy and coconut-y. Was lush and reminded me of being on a beach somewhere far far away.

Then, out came our mains. I went for the paneer masala which was lovely but again a tad too spicy for my liking. So, we asked for some yogurt to cool it down. My mum went for a lamb curry. To compliment the curries, we opted for plain rice, saag paneer and a peshwari naan.
We were going to look at the dessert menu but we were SO stuffed!
Overall, I’d highly recommend trying Madhu’s for the experience and food but be warned they are spicy, so do ask for some yogurt to cool the curries down.
I’d go again for a special occasion as it’s quite pricey – on the £££ spectrum.

I can handle a bit of spice, but this was really spicy haha. The yogurt helped though. xx
The food looks lovely. I’m with you on not liking spicy though, so thank you for the honest review. I’ve never thought about going to a higher end curry house, as some local takeaways just cannot be beaten xx
