Well, to be frank it hasn’t been the best start to the year. I got made redundant for the third time. I have a few days left in my role, and I’m of course, super gutted about it.
However, I need to focus on me and my health for a little while so I’m taking a career/health break for a few months.
I will still be blogging during that time, don’t worry!
Any who, trying to be positive, let’s discuss some January Joys shall we.
Christmas with my family was lovely… I haven’t spent Christmas with my family in years and years… so it was a nice change. Normally we’d travel up to Corby and spend Christmas with Joe’s family and travel back down on Boxing Day to see my dad’s side of the family. But it was a nice change and we hope to do it every other year as my grandad won’t be around forever.
No spend January completely failed. I was good for the most part but couldn’t resist a few things. I’m going to attempt ‘No Spend February’ instead.
Taking it easy. I’ve been off work recovering from my big op. I have a hole in my stomach and a stoma on the other side, before they go ahead with the reversal in March or April.
It’s been lovely catching up watching lots of amazing things on Netflix and Prime. Really enjoyed The Witcher season two and Modern Love season one.
My mum and dad bought us afternoon tea vouchers for Sopwell House in St Albans. Which was lovely! It was nice to get out of the house!
Being able to cook Gousto boxes again! I could barely stand for five minutes since the op, so it’s great that I have my strength back and I’m cooking again!
Wintery walks. The past two weeks I have been trying to go for a walk for ten minutes every day. I don’t always make it out the house as I’ve been really exhausted, however, when I do, I really enjoy it!
I met up with my best friend Nicol and we treated ourselves to a manicure and LVL lashes! Living our best lives.
I bought a beautiful cake stand from Oliver Bonas in the sale and have displayed my most used skincare on it! LOVE!
James Bond No Time To Die was brilliant! I bought it on Blu-ray as we didn’t manage to see it in the cinema when it came out. BEST one!
New rug and standing mirror in the living room giving me so much joy. Bringing pops of colour into our lives.
Finally getting round to decorating Joe’s office! We have plans to paint the walls grey, create herringbone flooring, put a sofa in there and add final touches. Joe spends most of his time in there, so it made sense that this would be our next project. After this project, we hope to either re-do the upstairs bathroom or paint the kitchen. Decisions, decisions…
Looks like you’ve had a great month, I love the cake stand skincare shelf idea!

I’m so sorry to hear you got laid off from your job- but good for you for taking some time for your health! Very important.
Your manicure is classic and chic- and I’m loving that printed + pleated midi skirt! What a stunner!

I was just saying to my husband this morning that I’m pressing reset and starting the new year on Feb 1st as January hasn’t been great for me health-wise. I’m loving the bright days though – gives me hope of Spring!
Sounds like you’ve been through the mill, but it’s brilliant that you’re getting your strength back. I love the shade of grey in Joe’s office x

Oh no, sorry to hear that! What is it with us and our health eh! Never ending.
Yes, getting there slowly each day. I can manage about a 20 min walk now. And thank you, it’s lovely! It’ll look so nice once he does the flooring. xx
I am so sorry about the redundancy sweetie. Better things are coming!

Thank you – I hope so. xx
I am sorry you are being laid off, this has happened to me 8 times in my work life due to buyouts, mergers and bankruptcies, it is exhausting. But good that you will be able to focus on your health. But your life with family and holidays sounded very nice.

Oh my, 8 times! That’s madness. It’s really exhausting and I guess I keep picking the wrong companies to work with but you never know. I’m going to enjoy the break. xx
I definitely feel like my January was delayed by 2 weeks because I started the new year with covid haha so couldn’t leave the house for the first 10 days! Hopefully February is better haha!
