It’s been a while since Joe and I left the house and went out for afternoon tea!
Unless someone is looking after Archie, then we can adventure out. I personally don’t like leaving him on his own for hours, unless he is being dog-sat. We’ve only left him once before and he cried like mad (on the dog cam) and it hurt my heart. Also, we both work from home, so he’s used to us being around all the time.
Any who, you’re here for the afternoon tea review, so let’s get on with it shall we…
My mum and dad kindly bought us afternoon tea vouchers at Sopwell House in St Albans, Hertfordshire, for Christmas and we finally got the chance to go!
We opted for the vegetarian afternoon tea, as there weren’t vegan options.
Sopwell House itself is lovely. We’ve been once before for a work event and I really enjoyed the food last time. The afternoon tea was equally as yummy, not my favourite afternoon tea I’ve been to (I’ve been to some real fancy swanky ones), however, tasty, none the less.
The warm scones with clotted cream and jam were my favourite. They were amazing! And some of the cakes were also lovely. The sandwiches could have done with a bit more filling, but that’s my only criticism.
We also had a fancy green tea to share, being healthy and all that jazz.
I’d highly recommend trying out Sopwell House for afternoon tea if you live in Hertfordshire or fancy travelling further a field. Other than Flourish Bakery’s afternoon tea – which I really rate, these are the two best places to go for afternoon tea in Herts.
I’d love to hear if you find any great places that are vegan for afternoon tea, not that I live anywhere near you but I’m interested to know how they’d do an afternoon tea! I used to love a cream scone it is one of the things I miss now!

Fortnum and mason in London do a vegan afternoon tea which is really great. Hopefully more places will start to do vegan options as veganism is very popular at the moment. xx
Omg bless Archie! Leaving pets at home is always so sad. This afternoon tea looks lovely though, and I’m intrigued by the colour of the bread haha!xx

Thanks lovely xx
I always think afternoon tea is so decadent and a real treat, but the problem is that I don’t like tea and am not really into sandwiches! I’ve had a champagne tea a few times and enjoyed it – Hubby gets the sandwiches and I get an extra sweet treat! I also only like plain scones (very fussy, I know!) x

Oh no lol! Yeah, you can always upgrade to champagne. I love scones, the best part I think! xx
