Drunk Elephant First Impressions

I’ve heard A LOT about Drunk Elephant, good and bad, so I wanted to give them a try and give you my honest thoughts on three of their products.

This is a first impressions blog post, I think this is possibly my ‘first impressions’ I’ve ever done – I’ve been trying out their products for a couple of days, not long enough to give my final thoughts, but I will at a later date.

Any who…

I picked up Beste No.9 Jelly Cleanser, Drunk Elephant Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense Protection Quotidienne SPF 30 and Siaai Makeup Melting Butter Cleanser.

Drunk Elephant is vegan friendly and cruelty free brand, hurrah! Free from SLS, fragrance, essential oils, alcohol and silicones too.

Firstly, the packaging is right up my street, I love the bold colours mixed with the white. And, I love the little black illustrations on the packaging.

Let’s start with the Jelly Cleanser. Priced at £27 for 150ml, however they do sell a smaller version for £13 if you want to try it.

Now, I have dry to combination skin, so this cleanser does dry out my skin a little bit. It would be much suited to normal to oily skin types! However, I love the smell, it’s kind of got a subtle orangey scent to it.

Drunk Elephant claims “with a pH level of 5.5, the Drunk Elephant Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser is gentle on all skin types while working to remove excess oil, makeup, pollution and any other build-up.” however as I mentioned above, I don’t agree it’s suitable for all skin types.

It’s formulated with coconut-based surfactants and rich in antioxidants and omegas 6 and 9. As well as glycerine and cantaloupe extract.

Next up we have Drunk Elephant’s Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense Protection Quotidienne SPF 30. Priced at £29.

The sunscreen comes in a squeezable tube and on first impressions, I think this is going to be a favourite of mine.

Free of what Drunk Elephant calls the “Suspicious 6” (essential oils, drying alcohols, silicones, chemical sunscreens, fragrance/dyes, and SLS), this sunscreen has only quality ingredients.

Described as a lightweight physical sunscreen made with 20% zinc oxide, Umbra Sheer provides an SPF 30 broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection. Infused with algae extract rich in antioxidants, sunflower sprout that neutralises free radicals, and grape juice that soothes and calms redness, Umbra Sheer is suitable for application on the face, neck, chest, and the rest of the body. The product dispenses as a lightweight white cream that has a slightly “gloopy” texture. It blends into the skin beautifully!

And last but by no means least, we have Siaai Makeup Melting Butter Cleanser. A potential fave! Priced at £29.

A moisturising skincare treatment that works to soothe the complexion. On first impressions, I’m really impressed with this cleanser! It feels so nice on the skin and leaves my dry combination skin feeling fresh and moisturised.

Formulated with natural ingredients including mongongo, baobab and marula oils to prevent dryness. Antioxidant fruit extracts including strawberry and kiwi support a calm and dewy skin tone.

A little goes a long way too, I can see this lasting months and months so I feel like the price isn’t so bad.

Have you tried Drunk Elephant? What are your thoughts on the brand?

It’s a shame you don’t like the gel cleanser for your skin but great you are enjoying the other products! I agree, the packaging is lovely!

Hope you are having a good week 🙂

I think I just have the wrong skin type for it. Otherwise, if I had normal-oily skin I would love it I reckon. You too lovely. x

I honestly love Drunk Elephant! I’ve tried their minis set (which are a great size, they last around a month so you get a true feel for if your skin likes the products) and a few of their products and I always highly recommend them. Hope they work well for you after consistent use! x

So far I’m really liking the make-up remover cleanser and SPF, the jelly cleanser drys out my skin a little. I’ll have to check out their mini’s collection as I’m up for trying more products, especially serums. x

Ah really, that’s a shame. So far I’m enjoying using their products apart from the jelly cleanser, it drys out my skin a little. x
