6 Things I Do To Help My Mental Health

Let’s face it, unless you’re superhuman, we’ve all somewhat felt some mental health issues the past year or so. Thanks to COVID-19.

Lockdowns have been tough! Little face to face communication, stuck in doors for what seems an entirety and sometimes working from home longer hours than intended. Although for me, working from home has been ideal for an introvert like myself. I get more shit done!

Anyway, here’s six things I do to help my mental health and hope to help you too.

Take a bath

Soak in a steaming hot bath with your favourite bath products, personally I love a bit of LUSH. I’ll treat myself to a bath bomb or a luxurious bubble bath – love Laura Mercier’s bath soak, though, I’ve sadly ran out, sob.

Make a cuppa

Tea makes everything better!

Escape in a good book

If you need some escapism, pick out a good book to read. I loved reading Normal People and Midnight Sun.

Remove myself from social media for a couple of days

It’s easy to blame social media for bad mental health days, however I feel social media helps me stay connected to anyone and everyone. But when I feel like I need a digital detox, I’ll remove myself from social media for a little while just so I can focus on ‘real’ life.

Write

Whether that’s writing on my blog on in a diary, I find writing really soothes me. It’s good to reflect on how you feel and then you can move on from it.

Talk to friends and family

Talking to your best pal or a family member you trust really helps. Support and check on your ‘ok’ friend, that ‘always positive’ friend or someone you know who has mental health issues. It’s important to talk and sending a message shows that you care.

How have you been feeling this year? What do you do to help your mental health? Let me know in the comments below.

I think coming out of lockdown is more anxiety-inducing for some, than being in it. I like to have a. good pamper, watch a film with my husband and go to the beach, when I need to press the re-set button x

I do a lot of similar things as you. I’ve found routines really help my mental health, like having a slow and calm morning routine to get ready for the day, and a relaxing evening routine!
