It brings me great joy to say a big eff you and good riddens to 2020.
2020 hasn’t been kind to me, from Covid spoiling the year, to having a stoma, my nan and grandads funerals in November and December and being made redundant back in May. It’s no surprise I want to say goodbye to this year!
I’m hopeful for 2021, half way through the year I’ll have the reversal of my stoma and I’m hoping to have a shiny new job by then.
Any who, I thought I would reflect and look back on the past twelve months.
January – Joe and I travelled to the Cotswolds which was lovely. Not too much to report in January, however, I was busy with my Digital Design role at Cath Kidston. Although I do remember a random London day out where Joe and I dined at Ping Pong and went up the Shard.
February – Not too much to report in February as I was dealing with a lot personally, so my blog suffered a bit. I ended up in hospital for 10 days and needed two blood transfusions, while my endo cyst got infected too. A really rubbish time.
March – I was very unwell and then lockdown happened, so I spent most of my days working and being in bed. I was waiting for an operation to happen, but that didn’t happen till end of June.
April – The month where you could really see the weight loss. I was so unwell but kept on fighting. At the end of the month I got made redundant which was the cherry on top.
May – If I’m being honest, I don’t remember much of May, however, my mother in law just reminded me that it was her 60th birthday and we had a picnic in the park, which was lovely!
June – The month of my operation, where my life changed drastically. I had a major operation and now have a stoma. My friends and family were so supportive and I received so many lovely gifts. At first everything was really hard to deal with but then I got used to it and everything seemed fine.
July – My auntie and uncle treated me to afternoon tea from my favourite local bakery. I saw my nan and grandad quite a bit and had a lovely weekend in Corby. I was so happy that I was able to walk properly again after the big op.
August – Joe and I travelled to Falmouth in Cornwall, it was lovely. We had a pizza party with four of our friends. We met Teddy (Joe’s mums pup) for the first time. Had a lovely girls night round Beth’s new house and had a random afternoon out at The Corinthia. We also made the most of the UK Staycations and travelled to the Lakes.
September – Joe and I celebrated being together for ten years! We had a London day out, where we dined at Sushi Samba and Hutong (Up the Shard). At the start of the month, we had a little family trip to Spain, the food was incredible and it was nice being with family for a couple of days.
We also decorated our living room, it’s now painted a lovely dark grey and looks so much better!
October – The month where we had a roast dinner party which was lush. It was also my mums birthday and we dined at the Florist and had the most delicious lamb roast! It was my birthday at the end of the month, Joe treated me to an iPhone 12 and we booked the weekend away in Bristol right before lockdown 2.0. We had many a cocktails and dined like royals.
November – It was our four year wedding anniversary! As we were under lockdown we had a Nandos takeaway and watched Joker, a great eve. Sadly it was my nan’s funeral early on in the month, although it was a sad occasion it was lovely to see family again. I had the stent removed from my kidney which was great, was only a minor op but a successful one!
December – The month of advent calendars, mulled wine and orange chocolate. Sadly my grandad passed away on December 1st so it wasn’t a great start to the month, however his funeral and wake was lovely. Good to see family once again. I remember Joe having a four day weekend, where we went into London and ate at Dalloway Terrace, Honest Burger, Roseate House and Feya! Chubs for the day ha.
And then we went into Tier 4, what a kick in the face! I’m not going to dwell on it too much, however I will say, you are not alone, if you need someone to talk to, my DMs are always open and stay safe.
We had a little surprise at the end of the month, it’s kind of a dream thing to happen to me, which I will share on my Instagram and blog in the new year.
