Afternoon Tea At The Corinthia

Us Brits we love our afternoon tea don’t we, well I certainly do! This time we went to the lovely The Corinthia hotel.

I have to start by saying this was of the BEST afternoon tea’s I’ve ever had, it’s on par with Sketch and Art afternoon tea at Rosewood. The service was just amazing and the lady who served us kept offering us more and more, we were truly spoilt!

If you’re looking for afternoon tea for a special occasion, I highly recommend this one, priced at £55 per person for traditional afternoon tea or £65 with a glass of champers.

We treated ourselves to the traditional afternoon tea after a long hard weekend of painting the living room and it was on the ‘help to eat out’ scheme, where you get £10 off per person.

I indulged in the meat options and Joe had vegetarian. For sandwiches I had cucumber, radish and cream cheese, truffle egg mayonnaise (which was my fave), smoked salmon and marmalade curd, tandoori chicken, green apple and raisin and salt beef, horseradish cream and watercress. All delicious! And of course we got offered more so we just had to!

To go alongside our sandwiches we had tea, I had peppermint, Joe had an oolong tea.

Afterwards, the lady brought out our scones with rhubarb and ginger jam and strawberry jam, divine!

Then out came an array of desserts. Rhubarb and strawberry Éclair,
peach, jivara milk chocolate mousse and thyme chantilly, raspberry and coconut tartlet, kalingo chocolate cremeux and kiwi compote, lemon drizzle cake (AMAZING!), canelés and chocolate bonbons.

To go with the desserts I had a pot of dragonwell green tea, followed by the most luxurious hot chocolate.

Like I say, we were truly spoilt.

We were even offered to take home more desserts! So we opted for the lemon drizzle cake and jivara milk chocolate mousse and thyme chantilly. Too good to turn down the offer!

    Hi zoey,
I make the jam and it’s a Chinese herb, Litsea cubeba, that has over tones of ginger and citrus. Slightly peppery. Thank you for saying that you enjoyed the jam BTW.
