These are becoming one of my favourite posts to do! I love looking back on the month and writing about all the little things that have brought me joy.
It’s been a busy ol’ month. My husband and I did two mini breaks away, spending time with friends and family and meeting my mother in law’s gorgeous new puppy! Lots to be grateful for too.
It’s also been quite a strange month with what’s going on in the world. “You must stay at home and you must lose weight but still help to eat out.” I don’t quite know how I feel about it all to be quite frank, however, I’m enjoying travelling around the UK – seeing parts that I wouldn’t have discovered, as I’m usually jetting off to somewhere fancy like Thailand or Bali.
Any who, here are the little things that have brought me joy this August.
Cornwall – Joe and I travelled to Falmouth, Cornwall at the start of August. It was so lovely to get away from London and enjoy the beautiful beaches, the colourful town and eat glorious foods.
Having my first bath since the op – I treated myself to a bath in early August, the first one since my operation. I was a little scared the water was going to get in the stoma bag but it didn’t thankfully. So, yes I enjoyed a nice hot bubble bath for a few hours, divine.
Binge watching Down to Earth with Zac Efron, Selling Sunset and The Umbrella Academy – I have to say I am loving Netflix at the moment, all three shows mentioned above are VERY different but so so good! Addicted to Selling Sunset, I’m on season 2 but I have a feeling I’ll race through the episodes in a couple of days. Down to Earth with Zac Efron brought me so much joy, I loved seeing his travels around the world. And, the umbrella academy is AMAZING, we’ve just started season 2 and loving it!
Pizza Party – We had a pizza party round our house. We could only invite 4 people round, so that makes 6 including us two. So we invited our Abbots friends along to eat pizza and drink lots of gin and prosecco. It was such a fun day and I’d love to do a roast dinner party sometime soon too!
Meeting Teddy – We met my mother-in-law’s gorgeous puppy back in Joe’s hometown Corby. He’s a lovely little cockapoo and the most chilled out dog ever.
Primark Haul – I went to Primark for the first time since maybe January and spent quite a bit of money. I did a little haul on my Instagram stories! Follow me on there (zoeyoliviablog), I’m addicted to stories at the moment.
Girls night – Mid August, Ciara drove us to Beth’s new house and we had a bit of a girly night. Burgers and fries and good chats. It was also lovely seeing Beth and Alex’s new home, it’s decorated so beautifully.
Lake District – Joe and I spent 3 days at the lakes, it was lovely to get away again. We ate our hearts out, drank lots of gin and did a bit of hiking.
Blog comments – I just wanted to say a huge thank you to those who took the time to leave me comments on my hair loss journey and my new life living with a stoma bag blog posts. It means a lot to me as I was so nervous about publishing them both, but so glad I did.
Afternoon tea at the Corinthia – Joe and I randomly went in to London on a Monday and treated ourselves to afternoon tea after a long hard weekend of painting the living room. We got £20 off through the help to eat out scheme, winner winner chicken dinner!

Thanks Janice 🙂 xx
That feeling of having a bath after so long is a feeling I know well! When I have to have IV antibiotics, I have to go two weeks without having a bath and it’s the best feeling in the world when I can finally have a proper bath after a fortnight! I’m glad to hear that so many things made you happy in August Zoey! x

Isn’t it just the best feeling! It took me 6-8 weeks to have one after the op. Can’t believe I went without one for so long. Thanks Lucy 🙂 x

These are very lovely reflections, Zoey! I love how you are slowly trying to recover and get back to your activities, it is such an encouragement. Happy to know that you’re able to take some time off and go on trips around your area, it’s one of the things I truly miss and I can’t wait to do that as well once quarantine rules in my area eases down.
I wish you a restful and healthy September. I can’t wait to read more about it soon!

Thank you Hanna! You too – have a great September. x
I love August because it’s my birthday and our wedding anniversary month! That being said, in between gifts and celebrations, I became more ill, then tripped over my cat and landed my hand flat on the hob, which had been used to boil eggs so I scalded my whole hand! Always take the good with the bad! Yesterday, we went to a beach that we’d like to move close to and the sea air always seems to make everything better! x

Ahh amazing – happy birthday month and wedding anniversary month to you! Oh my gosh, so sorry to hear this. Hope you’re ok! Love a beach day out. I’m currently in Spain and it’s so surreal here. We’re just staying around the villa and wondering out for food at night. x
I love this look on you! You are so beautiful! Happy is the most important thing of this world!
