I don’t think I’ve ever solely focused on a hotel review before. I mean, sure I’ve done travel guides but I’ve never written a hotel review on here. So this is a first – exciting!
If I could only recommend one hotel you MUST stay at in the UK, it has to be the beautiful Gainsborough hotel. It’s a five star hotel, but the experience is beyond magical. It’s been on my bucket list for ages and Joe (my husband) was an absolute babe and booked it for my 29th birthday!
They made me feel pampered – like I was floating on a cloud and felt like I was an actual princess. I mean who doesn’t want to feel like a princess?
When we arrived, Matthew on reception was so lovely and upgraded us to a suite (say what!), you know when you try to stay calm but you want to jump up and down with excitement… well this was one of those moments.
Not only did we get an upgrade, but we got a complimentary 60 minute bliss massage (these are very spendy – over £100), a bottle of champagne and chocolates with a birthday message. As well as a tour of the hotel! If that isn’t excellent service… I don’t know what is.
The suite was beautiful – we had a lounge area, a free mini bar (amaze balls), heated floored bathroom complimented with Aromatherapy Associates goodies (one of my fave beauty brands) and the most insane bed!
And the spa… oh my gosh, it’s dreamy, so magical and serene – I felt like I was floating on a cloud.
They also have two saunas – an infrared (say what!) and dry sauna, an ice cold room and steam room (I recorded some videos on my Insta of them… go have a nosey), as well as private massage treatment rooms.
The treatment was outstanding, I asked for a deep massage and the therapist did her thang! It was a full on body massage, arms, legs and back – both sides. After my bliss massage, the lady took me to a chill-out area and provided me with a sweet fruity tea and a macaroon. I chilled there for a little while, before heading back to our beautiful suite.
Tip: book directly through the hotel to get a complimentary massage and bottle of champagne. Also try going on a Sunday or during the week as it’s quieter and a lot cheaper!
I touched upon The Gainsborough Hotel in my ‘How to spend 48 hours in Bath‘ post, so do have a read of that after this! Alternatively you can watch our vlog below.

Looks like a beautiful hotel and so lucky with the upgrade!!! Hope you had a lovely birthday 🙂
