Why I’m Obsessed with Skin Needling

Skin needling sounds a bit terrifying doesn’t it? The word ‘needling’ makes me quiver a little bit – needles sticking into your face, gross. It kind of sounds like something someone would do to you in some sort of horror film.

That being said, I’m obsessed with skin needling and it’s not as scary as you may think!

Two and a half years ago I was introduced to a brand called Environ. A South African brand that focuses on the important of vitamin A, developed by a plastic surgeon named Dr Des Fernandes.

Environ specialise in a range of professional skincare products and facials. They aren’t cheap, and you can’t pick products up off the shelf in your local Boots or John Lewis store. They are a professional skin care brand that you can only find in salons and spas.
The only way to get your hands on Environ is to book a skincare consultation, then get product recommendations by a skincare professional. If you’re interested, give Skin3 a call and they would be more than happy to help answer any questions.

Environ’s facials are rather interesting – not the typical relaxing facial you’d expect. Environ use gentle electrical pulses and sound waves to greatly enhance the penetration of powerful nutrients deep into the skin – sounds kind of scary, but I can assure you it’s absolutely fine – you experience a little bit of sound and flashing lights and that’s it. Then, they lather a rather generous thick mask over your face, which sets (once set, it’s feels like rubber) and is ready to peel off after fifteen minutes or so – honestly so satisfying when you peel it off.

When you experience the facial for the first time, it almost looks like that scene out of Mrs Doutbfire.

They also have a range of facials dedicated to CIT medical needling. I haven’t actually experienced one my self, however, I have seen them being performed. Let me just say… it’s not for the faint hearted. However, the results are phenomenal.

Anyway, Environ have a product named ‘Cosmetic Roll CIT‘. A skin needling tool that you can use at home. They also have a gold plated version, which I would love to own but my credit card sadly says no.

The Cosmetic Roll CIT was designed to dramatically increase the effectiveness of Environ skincare products by allowing essential vitamins into deeper layers of the skin. This means that by using this tool you will achieve results much quicker.

The needling tool helps to enhance penetration of active ingredients into the epidermis, soften lines and wrinkles, tighten the skin, reduce the appearance of scarring and pigmentation marks and encourage disappearance of dilated blood vessels.

After my skin was accustomed to vitamin A (I’m currently on level 5) I introduced skin needling into my skincare – after I stepped up to level 3. It’s honestly such a satisfying feeling when you step up your level of vitamin A.

The first time I experienced skin needling I was wowed by the results the morning after – my skin looked almost brand new, fresh, glowy and my pimple scars were dramatically reduced. Not only this, but my makeup looked so smooth and flawless too.

I was religiously doing it once a week for weeks and then I put it a cupboard in my bathroom and it slipped out of the back of my mind for months…

In September, I started skin needling again – I’ve been doing it once a week.

My skin has improved dramatically the past six weeks. My skin feels and looks the best it’s ever looked. It looks tighter, has reduced the appearance of acne scarring and has softened these pesky lines under my eyes.

You may be wondering… does skin needling hurt? Nope, I can assure you it doesn’t. However, if you’re rolling on the same section for about three to five minutes, it starts to feel slightly uncomfortable, so stop and move on to another section.

One thing I did notice was that it bloody stings when you put Environ’s Revival Masque straight on afterwards. I was being adventurous, my skin was looking a little worst for wear so I needed an instant face lift lol. But it was 100% worth it. My skin looked amazing the following morning.

Skin needling is hands down one of the best beauty inventions out there on the market today. The results are incredible and it’s great that you can do it in the comfort of your own home.

I shall be continuing to do this every single week without fail.

Would you ever try skin needling? And have you tried any Environ products?

*Please note, I used to work at the Institute of Anti-Ageing – the exclusive distributor of Environ for the UK & Ireland. I’m not a trained therapist by any means, however I learnt a lot during my time there.
This is also the first time I am writing about my love for the brand and Environ products – as I didn’t want to come across as a ‘bias opinion’ while I was still working there.  I no longer work for the company so I feel that I can voice my opinions about the brand. I genuinely love Environ (and the Institute of Anti-Ageing), what they stand for and the results are amazing. Honestly life changing results.

I also purchased every single product and have not been asked to write this. I’m just sharing my love for the brand, my love for skin needling and what I’ve learnt over the past two and a half years.
