Everyone is singing their praises for Lush’s body lotion ‘Sleepy‘. The must have beauty product that has been labelled as a miracle insomnia-curing creation and has been claimed to help ease an overactive, stressed or anxious mind. Loved by mums, bloggers and celebs.
Sleepy launched last year as a limited edition holiday exclusive and has recently revived back onto the shelves into the permanent collection. The gorgeous pastel purple cream is heavenly scented with lavender flower (widely known for helping with relaxation, anxiety-reduction and sleep) and sweet tonka blended with ylang ylang oil, oatmeal infusion, cocoa butter and many more dreamy ingredients. Imagine laying in a field of lavender, pure bliss.
I’m so happy to finally have my hands on it. I love Lush, I love everything they stand for and I think they are an incredible brand that comes up with so many exciting concepts, incredible products and new trends. Furthermore, I’ve been trialling this body lotion for about two weeks now and here’s my verdict… Does it actually work? Or has it been massively hyped up? Read on to find out.
Before I begin, I just want to say I’m not an insomniac by any means. I love sleep, I’m the girl who snoozes their alarm five or more times before getting out of bed.
However, depending on how stressed I’m feeling or if my anxiety is particularly bad, I find it really hard to switch off my thoughts during the day and at night, I can become quite restless and when it’s particularly bad I can get two hours of sleep if I’m lucky.
It so happens that I’m a bit of a night owl anyway, I tend to me more in my element where ideas, thoughts and feelings are rushing through my head during the early hours and I just what to open up my laptop and type away.
More so recently, my sleeping pattern hasn’t been too bad (fingers crossed it stays this way), I usually go to sleep around midnight and wake up around 6:30am. On average I get around six to seven hours of sleep. Where as my anxiety on the other hand has been a bit of a pesk, it swings in roundabouts and has resulted in a few panic attacks during the past couple of months.
It’s early days yet as I’ve only been trying it out for two weeks or so, but so far so good. Lush say “before you pop on your pyjamas and slip under the sheets, dip into this dreamy lotion and smooth it over your entire body.”
At night, I slather this gorgeous rich moisturiser onto the majority of my body. I find it works best after having the ultimate relaxed evening by soaking in a luxurious bubble bath in the dark with candles beaming, then afterwards moisturising the dreamy pastel purple lotion into my skin.
If you haven’t got time to have a bath, don’t worry, just spend five minutes rubbing Sleepy into your skin and it will help ease your mind and will drift you off into sleep in no time.
As well as using it at night time, I’ve been applying it in the mornings too (when I feel nervous or anxious). I’m a huge fan of the scent, lavender silky goodness, one sniff of this and I’m instantly calm and zen.
In the mornings I tend to only use it on pressure points, such as my wrists, arms, neck and collar bone.
If I were to lather my body in this glorious cream morning and night, I’d run out too quickly and I really want to saviour every single bit of it.
Overall, I’m not sure if I’m sleeping better because of the lovely lotion itself, or if it’s spending an extra thirty minutes or so to pamper myself before bed, (which is something I never usually do) but it made me feel incredibly zen and is definitely helping me sleep like a baby. I’m also pleasantly surprised on how it’s reducing my anxiety and keeping me more relaxed. A natural cure for helping you sleep better and ease your anxiety for sure, hallelujah.
It’s no wonder sleepy has gone viral, loved by so many and sold out twice. Sweet dreams for everyone!
If you’re a fan of Sleepy, you’ll also be happy to know that Lush’s Twilight bath bomb has the same scent as Sleepy. So if you want a seriously good night’s sleep, combine the two to clear your mind before bed.
Let’s get social. Follow me on Instagram to see what I get up to daily. You can also reach me on twitter. Or, if you like Bloglovin’, I’m kind of new to it but follow me on there.
This sounds like such a lovely product! I should definitely give it a try…or if not, at least spend a little extra time pampering myself before bed!
