5 Wonderful Things To Do In London This Summer

As we’re a few weeks into the Summer season here in the UK, I thought I would continue my series of ‘5 Wonderful Things To Do In London’, however, with a focus on Summer activities.

I’ve written some thoughts on Spring and Autumn things to do and I’m yet to write Winter related content. But for now let’s discuss the wonderful Summery season in L-town.

Wimbledon

If you’re big on Tennis, Wimbledon is on annually in the Summer in London! It’s one of my favourite Tennis tournaments to watch and I was so lucky to attend the semi-finals last year.

Visiting Wimbledon was a first for me and it’s relatively hard to get tickets for it! You either can queue on the day, which can take hours upon hours or you can enter the ballot for tickets every year.

Another way of getting tickets is in the re-sale. You do have to constantly refresh the tickets page and sometimes you get lucky with finding a ticket or two.

I’ve never won tickets off of the ballot sadly, however, I did buy tickets for the semi’s for No.1 court by refreshing the tickets page about thousand times, lol.

Wimbledon is such a lovely experience! Strawberries and cream, pimms o clock, sitting on Henman Hill – Murray Mountain (whichever name you prefer), watching matches on numerous grass courts and actually getting to experience No.1 court – what an atmosphere!

I would love to do Centre Court one day, that’s a big dreamy bucket-list-moment of mine.

Ice-cream pit-stop

Another one of my favourite and fun things to do in London during the Summer is to cool down with some funky ice-creams.

Soft Serve Society is amazing. As well as Chin Chin Labs in Camden.

Stepping around Camden, Primrose Hill and surrounds…

Joe and I tend to do A LOT of walking when we head into London. We prefer exploring on foot, rather than travel on the sticky tube. I honestly don’t know how anyone travels on the underground during the hottest months of the year!

Often when Summer rolls around we favour adventuring around Camden Town and surrounds. While adventuring around Camden, we always end up in the infamous Cyberdog – you just have to don’t you!

It’s also really lovely to walk from Camden to Primrose hill and chill at the top of the hill with a picnic and some drinks.

If you’re feeling up to more walking, you can always walk through Regents Park or walk along the canal connected to both parks.

I adore Regent’s park in Autumn, the crunchy golden leaves fallen on the floor brings me lots of joy! It’s also lovely to walk around during the other seasons too.

If you end up towards the bottom end of Regents Park, you can head towards Marylebone, which is a very cute area.

Marylebone has a row of interesting restaurants, such as “Carlotta”, which is part of the Big Mamma Group. As well as “Daunt Books” located on the high street too. Daunt Books is great for a wander around inside and perhaps you’ll pick up a book or two.

Quintessentially British…

You can refer to me as a “typical” British person who loves afternoon tea! I’ve been to SO many afternoon tea’s in London and all around the UK. I’m rather fussy on the high standards I expect with afternoon tea, more so the high quality of the food, but, I suppose that’s because I’ve been spoiled with luxury afternoon teas in the last ten or so years.

A few that I highly recommend are Sketch, The Lanesborough, The Langham, The Corinthia and The Rosewood Hotel. They are my top five that I’ve been to in London. All very spendy, but such a treat!

There are still many afternoon teas for me to explore in L-town. I’ve got a big old list on my notes app to get through.

Exploring Chelsea

Chelsea is a beautiful part of London. There are tons of gorgeous bakeries, restaurants and cafes pottered around Chelsea.

I also love house spotting around Chelsea! Wandering around the streets and finding all the pretty colourful doors and buildings, while openly commenting on how much I’d love to live in one of those to my husband. I wouldn’t enjoy the price tag of course! Probably only need a mere two or three million, lol.

Realistically speaking though, I don’t think I’ll ever move back to London. I love Hertfordshire too much! And, it’s SO easy to travel in from the outskirts. But never say never!

Anyway back to Chelsea chat. If you’d like to do some walking around Chelsea and surrounds, I’d recommend heading through Chelsea on to Battersea. Battersea Power Station is stunning inside – and has an array of gorgeous shops inside as well as some fantastic foodie spots.

Hope you’re all doing ok and enjoying the warmer weather here in the UK! It’s actually been far too hot for my liking and unbearable for the little one. We invested in air-con and have a shiz load of fans on.

Also… It’s taken me around five days to write pieces of this post while looking after a newborn. I worry I’m not going to have much time on my hands when Joe goes back to work and it’s just me looking after Alessia, but we will cross that bridge when we get to it! Catch up with you all soon!
