It’s no secret that I love a spa break or a spa day! I’ve talked about my favourite Hertfordshire Spa’s before on the blog and I tend to always go back to either Cottonmill at Sopwell House in St Albans or The Grove in Watford.
Both are incredibly pricey packages, especially if you opt for ‘The Club’ at Cottonmill, but I always feel so relaxed and rejuvenated after the spa break, so to me it’s so worth it.
Sopwell don’t often do discounts, however, I tend to buy one of their packages when they do Black Friday deals once a year which includes an overnight stay in one of their gorgeous rooms, the spa and dinner at Omboo. They do tons of different packages, so do keep an eye out on Black Friday!
Anywho, now that I’m in the second trimester, actually I’m near to approaching the third, I treated myself and the husband to a little break with my birthday funds. I was fully aware I couldn’t make the most use of the spa because of pregnancy but it didn’t stop me from having a lovely time.
When you’re pregnant you can’t use saunas, steam rooms and hot tubs above a certain temperature, but you can do as much swimming as you like, relax and read a book, go for a pregnancy massage or use the gym – if they have one! And Sopwell do!

While Joe was in full relaxation mode alternating from sauna to steam rooms, I dashed off for a pregnancy massage. My first one! I wasn’t too impressed as I didn’t feel like my aches and pains had gone, but I suppose the beauty therapist had to be extra careful massaging you in pregnancy.
I paid over a hundred pounds for the massage, so I was a little disappointed. In comparison to the one I had at The Grove pre-pregnancy, that was incredible. I don’t know what The Grove’s pregnancy massages are like though! Anyway, I think if I go back for another spa day at Cottonmill during pregnancy, I’ll skip the massage.
After some time relaxing, we checked into our room at 3pm. The room was beautifully decorated, very modern and ‘chic’. The bed was so so comfy – had a great night’s sleep!
After popping down our bags, we headed back down to ‘The Club’ spa area for a few more hours before we needed to get ready for our Omboo reservation.
I was lounging on a spa-bed listening to the fourth book in the ACOTAR series. Sometimes it can be a little awkward listening to it in public due to the spicy scenes, but no-one could hear through my AirPods!
Also, we were feeling quite peckish before dinner as we only had a light breakfast at home, so we got a light lunch and I was craving a cookie, so had said cookie, which I very much enjoyed.

I was SO excited for dins! I made the extra effort in doing my hair and make-up. Which compared to the no-makeup joggers and jumpers vibe I usually work with at home made a nice change.
I’ve been to Omboo around four times and it’s honestly so good. Ten out of ten every single time!
I’m a huge fan of Asian foods so we enjoyed a big feast here. We were allowed to spend £60 per head from the package I selected.
Highlight was the ribeye steak, but it was all delicious. I would say the vegetarian sushi and tempura mushrooms were amazing too, just as good as the steak.
Joe was so happy they had lots of new vegetarian dishes on the menu!

Then we opted for an early night and woke up pretty early for the breakfast buffet and a hour long gym session.
We got to use the spa a little longer as they closed the spa early the night before as they were holding an event, so we made full use of this. I much preferred the longer stay as I found last time we were a bit rushed when it came to checking out.

While we were in the area and without the furry boy, we popped by The Waffle House for some lunch. I hadn’t been there in years and oh boy, it was amazing. I had a chilli-con-carne waffle and shared a garlic butter waffle with Joe – delightful.
Overall, I loved our little spa break at Cottonmill. Shame about the massage but never mind!
I would love to do another spa day during my third trimester or perhaps once the little one is born I will treat myself to a solo day relaxing and making full use of the spa as I did miss the sauna and steam rooms.
Also, random thoughts, but I was saying to Joe when we retire (which I know is in over thirty years) we should pay for a yearly package at Sopwell or The Grove. I know it’s mega pricey, but you bet I would be there every single day, living the high life lol!
Anyway, hope you’re all doing well my lovely readers and blogging friends! I have tons to blog about, I’m just a bit behind schedule with everything as I’m taking each day as it comes with pregnancy. Some days I’m full of energy and some days I’m too exhausted and need to be a couch potato! Also, I hope you’re enjoying the pregnancy content, it’s all that my brain is consumed with at the moment. Catch up soon!
I am still overjoyed by the fact that you’re pregnant! Hope it’s all going well! <3
Looks like you've had the greatest time, and that food looks DELISH! <3
