What I’ve Been Watching, Reading and Listening To Lately

I haven’t published a chatty post about what I’m watching, reading and listening to in AGES! The last one I remember doing was back in 2021, so this has been long overdue!

Before I chat about all things tv, book and music related, I just wanted to mention how beautiful the weather has been in the UK! Signs of Spring is near, which makes me super happy.

Any who, over the last couple of months I’ve really enjoyed watching a few things on Apple TV+: Ted Lasso, Silo, Prime Target and Shrinking to name a few.

Ted Lasso is a real feel good show and is really well done. It’s based on this super friendly and positive American coach who trains a football team, and all the challenges that come along with it. I got all the happy feels watching this and I always recommend it to anyone and everyone, even if football isn’t your cup of tea, it’s just a great story-line!

Silo was a really interesting watch on Apple TV+. Everyone is living in these ‘Silo’s’, which are underground and there are lots of twists and turns. Really enjoyed watching this.

Prime Target is based on prime number mathematicians and the dangers of having this knowledge. It features Leo Woodall in, so I wanted to watch as I really loved him in ‘One Day’. I wouldn’t say this has been the best series I’ve watched on Apple TV+, been it’s been quite interesting so far.

I’ve just started watching Shrinking as it was recommended by a friend. I’m only two episodes in, but, so far, so good. Featuring Jason Segel, who was in How I met Your Mother previously. The story-line is about his life as a therapist and he faces some life-challenging moments.

I did try and watch a few episodes of Bad Sisters on Apple TV+ and I just couldn’t get into it. I’ll give it another go at some point.

A random BBC documentary that Joe and I enjoyed was ‘Planets’ on BBC iPlayer with Brain Cox. I’m a bit of a geek and I love learning about the universe and our solar system.
I didn’t realise Mars was Earth’s ‘sister planet’ and that yonks ago they both looked the same before Mars went all brown/red! A really interesting watch.

I also throughly loved the last season of The Traitors which was on BBC one! It’s like a real life board game with some bits of betrayal throw in.

Other than those two on BBC, I’ve been loving the Six Nations rugby matches. England have been doing really well. Oh and I’ve been watching a few Lioness games too! They did really well to beat Spain – the world champions, the other day.

Moving on to some Netflix watches I’ve found interesting have been Apple Cider Vinegar, American Murder: Gabby Petito and Toxic Town. As well as still making my way through Gilmore Girls – it’s been years since I started re-watching this, ha.

Apple Cider Vinegar is based on a real life story on an Australian influencer that fakes having brain cancer and influencing clean eating and drinking to cure cancer and she becomes this incredible well known health influencer. But it’s all a lie!
I felt so angry watching this – preying on such a vulnerable community! I did follow up with the real life documentary on Belle Gibson on Netflix too. It’s called ‘The Search For Instagram’s Worst Con Artist’.

The Gabby Petito murder documentary was really sad. I remember hearing about it in the news. She was only twenty two… so heartbreaking.

Toxic Town is based on my husband’s home-town actually. Corby raised a lot of concerns for birth defects in the 90’s and there is a series on it. I’m on the last episode and I’ve found it really interesting, but I’ve also found it uneasy as I’m going through pregnancy at the moment.

Gilmore Girls has been an easy watch, I pop it on in the background when I can’t think of anything else to watch!

I did watch Love Island All Stars this year, I haven’t watched Love Island in years as it felt very same-y. But I watched it as Luca was going in this year and I loved him on a prior series. He’s so funny! I love Gabby as well.

Moving on to books and audible listens…

The ACOTAR series!!! I’m still making my way through these. I’m currently on book four, but I’m quite a slow reader. Sometimes for ease I pop my AirPods on and do jobs around the house while listening to the ACOTAR series on audible as I don’t often sit still and find time to read.

The ACOTAR series is a romance-fantasy genre about fairies and I adore the character of Rhys… ACOTAR readers will understand what I mean! Just to warn you It can be a little sexual in parts, if that’s not your cuppa tea in books. But the whole series has been really enjoyable to read and listen to!

I’ve downloaded Fourth Wing on audible as it’s a similar genre and I will be listening to this after I finish the ACOTAR series.

The Science of Nutrition book has been on my list for years, I’m reading every now and again to learn more about nutrition. I know quite a bit about nutrition anyway, but don’t fully understand all the technical terms yet. Hoping to finish the book before the baby arrives!

Moving swiftly on to what music I’ve been listening to…

Music wise I’ve been listening to a variety of musicians and bands from the likes of Olivia Dean, old school Paramore, Alexisonfire and Two Door Cinema Club. Also some Queen tracks and The Beatles. I’m currently creating a ‘Giving Birth’ playlist on Apple Music. Any song recommendations would be much appreciated!

Also, if you have any recommendations for me to watch, please leave them below!

I’m planning to watch the new Bridget Jones film with some friends this evening, which I’m really looking forward to! Hope you are doing well and catch up soon!

Loved this catch-up post! 😊 You have such a great mix of shows, books, and music—definitely adding Prime Target and The Science of Nutrition to my list! Also, ACOTAR fans totally get the Rhys obsession. 😍 For your ‘Giving Birth’ playlist, maybe some Florence + The Machine or soft indie tracks for a calming vibe? Excited to hear what you think of the new Bridget Jones film! 💕

With two kids and work I haven’t been able to get back into a tv show as I hate starting it and not being able to finish it! But I’m always looking for suggestions for any short series I can fit in – I just finished watching Adolescence, which was great but tough to watch.
