Babymoons have become a huge thing in recent years and I’m all for them. It’s really lovely to spend some time relaxing as a couple before the baby arrives.
I have a few other mini babymoon’s lined up too, we just had a short spa break at Sopwell House and we have one in Lanzarote planned. However, we recently had a gorgeous babymoon stay at The Artist Residence in Oxfordshire. We’ve stayed here a bunch of times and there’s a reason why we keep coming back!
Firstly, the interiors in the rooms and inside of the pub are incredible. The style is right up my street! Secondly the food is outstandingly good. And lastly it’s dog friendly!
We’ve stayed in a few of the rooms, including the gorgeous Shepherds Hut. This time we opted for the Farmhouse Suite for a bit more space.
When we entered jazz music was playing and the room looked so cosy and lovely. My eyes were immediately drawn to the roll-top bathtub, which I really made the most of during our two night stay.
Also, the bed was so so comfy.

The Artist Residence sometimes does 20% off or other discounts which they send via email, so I made the most of this when I booked as it can be super pricey otherwise.
It seems to be a yearly tradition that we stay here to relax and re-charge and I do like trying out different rooms as they all look stunning. It’ll be interesting to know if they are baby friendly as I would like to go back next year or the year after.

Anyway, what’s great about the Oxfordshire location is that it’s nearby The Cotswolds and Bicester Village if you’re in the mood for some designer retail therapy. However it’s also great to stay in the room and pub all day if you fancy. They do have some walks near-by or you can drive to Witney which is a lovely little town with a few shops and restaurants.
Joe also went for a 5k run around the village, so it’s great for having a countryside jog.
We popped by Bicester on one of the days and I treated myself to some slide-on Uggs as I wanted some comfy shoes during pregnancy. Joe got some amazing deals too. We also popped into Saint Laurent and I fell in love with a medium sized suede bag, but stopped myself from purchasing as I couldn’t justify spending that much money on another bag. I already have three designer bags (two Saint Laurent, one Gucci) and as much as I love them, I use my trusty UNIQLO and M&S bags more these days as I’m always too scared to wear designer bags out and about.
In Bicester Village, there was an amazing Crepe stand which of course I had to have! I opted for a sweet crepe, Joe had a savory crepe.

Moving on to natter about the food in The Mason Arms which is apart of The Artist Residence.
The breakfast options were great, although they have changed the menu since we last went as there used to be a few more vegetarian options. I went for the full English and scrambled eggs with bacon on sourdough. Both were amazing! The bacon was next level – which I haven’t actually eaten in years but belly was craving it!
For lunch I had a gorgeous brisket beef burger and fries, oh my word, this meal was heavenly. Joe had the vegetarian option which was some stew and he said it was “amazing”.
We did also have a roast dinner at The Mason Arms. Sadly they took the vegetarian option off the menu, which I remember used to be a lovely nut roast.
I had the pork belly which was delicious and Joe had another vegetarian dish which he enjoyed. We also had a lovely rich chocolate-y dessert.

We very much enjoyed our babymoon stay here for two nights. It was nice to escape to the countryside for a little relaxing break.
I do want to visit the London, Brighton and Bristol locations at some point. I’ve been to the Cornwall one, but much prefer the Oxfordshire branch. I’d love to stay in The Barn Suite in the Oxfordshire branch one day too, as it looks dreamy!
If you’re interested in staying at The Artist Residence, I’ll leave the link here and you can have a little look for yourself. Do sign up to their mailing list as that’s where I’ve found discounts on some of the locations, such as 20% off or staying 3 nights instead of 2.
I’m a little behind schedule with my blog posts at the moment, but I will talk about my other babymoon experiences soon. Hope you’re all doing well and catch up soon!
Hello!
Thank you for enlightening me on this concept of babymoons, I had never heard that expression before. This place is stunning! Hugs
