Snippets Of 7 Days In Bulgaria

I know, I know, you’re probably thinking jeez she’s just come back from Iceland

However, we felt like it would be good for me to get away to help my mental health and on-going infertility problems. De-stress from all the medical appointments, endless paperwork, phone calls and emails.

Bankso, Bulgaria wasn’t on my bucket-list, but it’s pretty reasonable prices for a ski package family holiday.

I wanted to give ski-ing a go, but with all my operations and on-going health problems, I ended up calling it a day on day two. Doing a beginner class by yourself for 6 or more hours a day is exhausting and I just couldn’t get the hang of it! I ended up having an emotional breakdown or two during my classes which was a sign I needed to stop. I think if I was my old ‘fit’ self and I had a buddy to do it with I would have happily carried on with the classes.

I spent the rest of the holiday on my lonesome. Swimming, enjoying the spa, getting a yoga facial and eating my heart out. I did meet up with family in the mornings for brekkie and also the evenings which was nice.

It was really lovely enjoying my own company and trying to take my mind of things. I spent hours upon hours in the pool. Although now it’s back to reality…

We did also have to cancel our Oxford trip later on in the month as we have too much going on. But we’ve re-scheduled it for later on in the year.

Anyway… I thought I would share some photos from our family holiday below.

I’d recommend giving ski-ing a go if you’re in good health. But I will say it is physically and mentally draining. It’s good to go in a group!

The destination Bankso, Bulgaria is lovely too. There lots of options for vegetarian and pescatarian diets. Although the Bulgarian’s do like their meat! I did eat some fish out there as I’ve been slowly introducing it back into my diet again. Two foodie spots that really stood out to me were The House and La Petite Creperie – BEST CREPES I’VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. Ginger was great for cocktails. But for a real bargain for drinks was Morris Bar, which was 10 levs for 2 cocktails, and that is roughly around £4.50.

Have you been to Bulgaria before? Or have you been ski-ing? Let me know in the comments below.
