It’s been an eventful month, one that I’ll always remember.
One, recovering from my major operation and learning to deal with a stoma bag. Two, I’ve had so many beautiful gifts from friends and family and three, I’m so grateful for the little things in life.
So without further ado, here are the little things that brought me joy this July.
Afternoon Tea. My auntie, uncle and cousins (Carol, Dean, Laura and Becca) treated me to a surprise afternoon tea from my favourite bakery ‘Flourish Bakery’. It was absolutely delicious and I’m so grateful for the lovely gift.
Fish and chips with my nan and grandad. Mid July Joe and I visited my nan and grandad. We went to Codland, my favourite fish and chip shop in my local area. It was lovely seeing them and Harry (the dog) as always!
All the flowers. I’ve received so many beautiful bouquets since having my op. Thank you to Julie and Duncan, Mark and Bronagh, Tracey, David, Jade and Sophie and Jojo. They’ve lasted so well and I’m so thankful for them – they brighten up the conservatory and kitchen.
Being able to walk properly again. Since the big op, I’ve really struggled to walk and I was in pain when I lied down. Now I can do 10-15 minute walks which is an achievement for me right now. I’m also pain free when I lie down, so I’m sleeping normally again thank god.
Chris and Ciara visiting. Our friends Chris and Ciara came over on a Sunday to catch up. It was really lovely seeing them and spending time in the garden.
Marilyn (Joe’s mum) visiting. We had Marilyn stay with us mid July. It was really lovely to catch up, and also so grateful for her help with our front garden, it’s looking SO much better now.
Care package from the girls. Emma, Ciara, Beth, Tori and Fee treated me to a humongous care package with Lush treats, sweets, a notebook, pens, candle, diffuser and so much more. Such a lovely idea and I’m so grateful for all the gifts, so so lovely of them!
Getting my blogging mojo back. I’ve been feeling really inspired this Summer (I normally slow down in the Summer months, I’m not sure why…) and I have a lot of free time on my hands while I’m recovering from my operation, so yeah, really enjoying blogging again.
A weekend in Corby. Last weekend my husband and I travelled to Corby to spend time with family. Joe’s mum treated me to some snazzy pyjamas from Tesco, I bloody love them! It was just a nice chilled weekend and the roast dinner on Sunday was amazing, just what I needed.

These would be the same things that would make me smile too. Appreciating little things in life makes us happy people on a regular basis.

Sounds like you had a lovely month! I think being in lockdown over the last few months have made us truly appreciate the meaning of real, human connections.
I’ve loved getting back to blogging in the last few months… but what has been really special is that I flew down to my parents’ place in mid-June. Getting to spend all this time with them has been a real blessing of this lockdown season while I continue to “work from home”. I don’t remember the last time I spent so much quality time with my parents. ❤️
